Midwifery Training For State Enrolled Community Health Nurses 2009.
In line with plans to provide much needed midwives in Sierra Leone especially for delivery of quality Reproductive Health Services and to also serve deprived communities in remote areas in the country, the National School of Midwifery is pleased to announce that Midwifery Certificate course is now offered to state Enrolled Community Health Nurses for a period of 18 months. Fire Disaster Nine Confirmed Dead

Nine deaths have been confirmed from the Oil Refinery Fire Disaster at Kissy in Freetown. Six of the Victims were brought in dead and the three whose conditions were described as very critical died in the hospital.

Yellow Fever Outbreak in Bo District
Sierra Leone's Chief Medical Officer(Ag.), Dr. Kisito S. Daoh has been alerted of a reported case of yellow fever in the Bo district and laboratory tests conducted have confirmed evidence on two patients following results from the Institut Pasteur Laboratories in Abidjan and Dakar.

Sierra Leone bags $30 million Dollars Support for Child Survival Programme
A $30 million US dollar grant has been approved by the World Bank for the accelerated Child Survival Development Programme of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation. The amount, provided by the United Kingdom's Department for International Development (DFID) through the World Bank is intended for use over a period of five years. The Ministry of Health and Sanitation in collaboration with the Pink Charity Fund and other partners request that recognition of the international dedication of Breast Cancer to this month of October is observed by all Sierra Leoneans. Many women have lost their lives whilst some are currently very ill with breast cancer.
