The UNICEF Project manager on Immunisation Dr. Ismaila Nuhu Maksha has on behalf of the UN county team congratulated government and its partners for reaching a national coverage of 85 % during the first round of the national maternal and neonatal tetanus campaign.

Japanese Government Joins Fight Against Child Mortality
The government of Japan has approved funding in the area of child and maternal health in Sierra Leone through UNICEF for the year 2008. One Million nine hundred and sixty three thousand and fifty nine United States dollars ($1,963,059)has been approved for the project entitled 'Scaling up effective strategies to reduce Child and maternal mortality in Sierra Leone".
