The Reproductive Health Programme was established in 1997 with its main focus on Maternal Mortality Reduction and specific emphases on supporting Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care, Family Planning and STIs Prevention and Management. It is the principal implementing agency for UNFPA funded activities particularly in the Ministry of Health and Sanitation and implemented the 2008 Annual Work Plan of the GOSL and UNFPA 4th Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP), 2008-2010. Ministry of Health and Sanitation Destroys Expired Food Items
Consignment of expired assorted food items worth millions of Leones were this morning destroyed at the compound of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Department in Freetown. The food items were voluntarily declared by the importers after an intensive inspection tour of suspected shops and warehouses in the Western Area by a vigilant team of Environmental Health and Sanitation Officers.
