NATIONAL HEALTH MANAGEMENT - INFORMATION SYSTEMS ASSESSMENT
In 2004, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS) in Sierra Leone requested technical assistance from the United Kingdom and the World Bank to improve the health management information system in the country. The ultimate objective is to establish a computerized National Health Information System database for the planning and decision making of the health care delivery system, a more equitable distribution of health resources and services in line with the Poverty Reduction Strategy, and the improvement of the health status of the people of Sierra Leone. AN ASSESSMENT OF DISABILITIES IN THE WESTERN AREA BY THE DIRECTORATE OF PLANNING AND INFORMATION
Before the war there were disabled people. There were those blinded by illness like onchocerciasis; others made deaf by acute infections of the middle ear and many others whose hands and or feet were severed by accidents. Cerebrovascular accidents (stroke) and polio paralyzed the limbs of many more. But the gruesome effects of acts like the cold-blooded amputations of limbs and the enucleation eyeballs have created a disability situation unprecedented in this country. This 40 paged Word document published in 1999 asseses the disability in the Western Area. [ Download/View File ]
