I am 72 years of age, suffering from arthritis. I have been the Regent Chief of this chiefdom for nearly seven years, since the Paramount Chief, Madam Ella Koblo Gulama fell ill.

My chiefdom plays an active role in overseeing Primary Health Care (PHC) delivery to the people, especially so, with the reintroduction of Local Government in which the chieftaincy plays a pivotal role at all levels.
There are seven sections in the Kaiyamba Chiefdom and each section has a Health Center manned by trained and volunteer nurses, and drugs are supplied regularly from the Central Medical stores in Freetown.
We have two trained doctors at the Government Hospital; one Sierra Leonean and one Nigerian, who was posted here on voluntary services, called Dr Agu. They are both very hardworking.
Because of the work load at the hospital, we have some volunteer nurses who give their services to help the sick without pay.
There is a dispenser and a pharmacist attached to the hospital.
In-service training of nurses is frequently done at the District headquarter level to feed the PHUs.
Generally, Public Health Care is progressing fairly; there has been mass immunization against polio and an extensive campaign in water and sanitation, which has greatly helped the population.
