I speak to you on behalf of the Acting Paramount Chief, Roka Kholifa II of Kholifa Rowalla Chiefdom, which hosts the main Government Hospital, a Maternal Child Health Clinic and seven Maternal Child Health Posts. With all amount of honesty please let me confess to you that Government and the Ministry of Health are really trying for us in the area of health care delivery, although there are still more rooms for improvement.
Our medical personnel at the Government Hospital at Magburaka and all the health centres are really trying considering the limited facilities at their disposal. They immunize our children, sisters and wives regularly without demanding a single cent.
The same goes for the aged and school pupils who also receive free medical treatment at all of the health centres when ever they are sick. Please allow me to take this opportunity to commend MSF Holland for their humanitarian interventions which have helped to save the lives of many children and pregnant women, and have contributed to improve medical services in our chiefdom. Even when transport continues to pose serious constraints to them, they still endeavour to organize outreach programmes in which they give public and environmental health talks, and also purify our wells.
The most common forms of ailments here are malaria and acute respiratory infections.
Finally, I will like the Government to note that the role of doctor in particular and health service personnel in general is crucial to the survival and development of any nation. So government should endeavour as a matter of urgency to cater for more doctors, nurses and nursing aides for our chiefdom. They must also provide appreciable working conditions of service so that our health personnel will feel secured in their jobs and deliver more.
