Interview with Saidu Mansaray, Makontande Village, Kafe Simiria Chiefdom, Tonkolili District

I am ten years old and attend the Roman Catholic Primary School at Makontande. I am in class II.
Saidu Mansaray, Makontande Village, Kafe Simiria Chiefdom, Tonkolili District

The “doctors” at the Makontandae Maternal Child Health Post, located few yards away from our school, have been very useful to us. When we are playing football or riding our bikes as I am doing, and fall down, they give us free treatment. They also advise our parents to take good care of us and not to beat us up for that because we have a right to play. We are also advised to respect our parents and each other, and be careful while playing to avoid being seriously hurt.

The last time I was taken there by my father Pa Dauda Mansaray, I was suffering from a serious headache and general body pain, which the doctor told my father, was due to malaria. I was treated free and my father was given free tablets to administer to me at home.

Moreover, they often visit our school and the community to teach us how to prevent ourselves from illness and how to properly dump solid and liquid wastes. Sometimes they give mosquito nets to our parents. May God reward them.
