First of all, let me state that in terms of health care delivery, Koinadugu is improving at a high speed championed by the DHMT.

| Councilor David F. Turay, Chair, Koinadugu District Council, Koinadugu District |
I am pleased to report that there are over forty PHUs in the district, including the Government Hospital at Kabala Town.
All PHUs have staffs that treat pregnant women, children and lactating mothers on a regular basis and dispense drugs on cost recovery.
So many health activities have been carried out, geared towards a healthy district population.
For instance, during the defaulter- tracing campaign, health workers ransacked every corner of the district in search of patients.
The rehabilitation/ construction of the Kabala Government Hospital is also worthy of praise, as the archaic structures will soon give way to a modern Hospital.
In the area of decentralization, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS) has been most cooperative, being the first to disburse money for health related activities in the purview of Local Government.
The DMO prepares the work schedule and requests Council for funding.
In the area of Water and Sanitation, is the ongoing construction of water wells around Kabala in accordance with our development plan.
Under the Rapid Result Approach (RRA), three water wells were constructed as a starting point, and two mechanics have been assigned per chiefdom supplied with bicycles, to take care of all EU wells.
Let me hasten to note the terrible state of the roads, which makes many communities inaccessible for health care services.
But we cannot abandon those people in the far ends, where the roads are really terrible for they too are Sierra Leoneans and need health services.
For instance, the road from Makakura to Yinfin is about the worst in the world.
Finally, as health services are now going to the interior, there is need for the training of more nurses at all levels so as to service the extended coverage areas.
I therefore, on behalf of the district, wish to appeal to the government to establish a training center for nurses in Koinadugu District.
