I have been in the medical field since 1986, first as a student nurse; and all those years I have been working for government.

| Sister Isatu Kamara, Matron-in-Charge, Kabala Government Hospital, Koinadugu District: |
The health situation in Koinadugu is pretty deplorable as we lack the manpower and necessary equipment to perform our duties.
Notwithstanding, one thing I want to thank the MOHS is for the rehabilitation/ construction of new blocks at the Kabala Government Hospital.
I hope on completion, the hospital will be fully equipped and staffed.
Due to the rehabilitation taking place, the hospital has been relocated at the Community Center where ¾ of the work is done by volunteers.
From time to time, we are obliged to conduct basic training for them to cope with the challenges of the work.
A majority of the nurses posted to the district refuses to come due to the perennial problem of accommodation plaguing the health delivery sector, and low wages; there is need for special incentives to motivate the staff and many more.
As a secondary health facility we deal with all referred cases from PHUs including medical and surgical, post natal, family planning, laboratory services, to name just a few.
I view the construction of a maternity complex by UNICEF as a boost to our job, not withstanding the inadequacy of personnel; no dentist no gynecologist, no surgeon specialist.
