My name is Prince Albert Taiwo Roberts. I attended the People’s Friendship University in 1970 and obtained a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) in 1976. In that same year, I started work at the Connaught Hospital as a Medical Officer and worked there until 1978. I was later transferred to the provinces in1980.

During this period, I worked as a Medical Officer in the Kenema Government Hospital for six years, and then went to Panguma and Serabu Hospital in the Eastern and Southern parts of the country as a clinician.
In 1982, I obtained a Certificate at the WHO Fellowship at the Nairobi Hospital, Kenya. I did my Masters in Public Health, at Leeds University, England from 1986 to 1987.
I was the Vice Principal of the Paramedical School in Bo, and covered such areas as conducting examinations, lecturing on various subjects like Epidemiology, Pharmacology, District/Health centre Planning and Management.
I contributed to the original Primary Health Care hand book and also to the write up of the following documents;
1. National Health Action plan.
2. National Health Policy.
3. Primary Health Care Handbook.
4. Maternal and Child Health and Traditional Birth Attendants revised training manuals.
5. National Malaria Control Programme Policy and strategic plan.
From 1991 to 1995, I was the Programme Manager of the Rural Western Area Primary Health Care Programme supported by Plan International and based in Waterloo. From 1990 to 1996, I was the District Medical Officer of the Western Area. From 1996 to 2001, I was the Principal Medical Officer, Western Area.
I was made the Deputy Director General, Medical Services (Primary Health Care Services) a position I have held to date.
