MISSION STATEMENT

To ensure and advocate for the availability of essential medicines and medical supplies to all government health institutions in Sierra Leone through a National Medicines Policy Formulation and Implementation process.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The unit succeeded in reopening the Pharmacy Technician School in 1998. Also, a laboratory for quality Drugs control in the country has been established. Since the appointment of the current Director of the unit, the capacity and administrative structures and functions of the Pharmacy Board have been straightened.

A decentralized drug supply and management of these controls is now in place.

The unit conducted several training programs and workshops in the implementation of Essential Drugs Program.
