MISSION STATEMENT

To deliver affordable healthcare delivery services of standard to the nation.

AIMS

To use the country's main referral hospitals as teaching hospitals whereby post graduate training in various specialties can be carried out; this would hopefully help to reduce brain drain that the medical sector is currently experiencing. Providing free seasonal section to all pregnant women who need it

ACHIEVEMENTS

The unit has ensured that all laboratories nationwide have been euipped.

A nationwide blood banking facility has been provided in each District.

In collaboration with Mercy ships, National Petroleum and Addas Cooperation, two Vectico Virginal Fistula centers have been opened. One of these centers is located at the Princess Christian Maternity Hospital and the other at the Aberdeen Fistula and Community Centre.

The unit is currently working on a Cost Recovery System and thinking of alternative ways of Health Financing.

In its  bid to decentralize the work of the Ministry, all hospital boards in the thirteen districts were informed of the process and this ensured a smooth transformation.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

Together with the various hospital boards, supervises the hospitals with each hospital with its own Management Committee which comprises of the head of the hospitals and head of all Units within the particular hospital. Each hospital has its own budget and issues like pricing of services, procurement of supplies are dealt with by the management Committee, the Ministry and Hospital boards.
