ACHIEVEMENTS
In some of the districts, pallets and shelves have been constructed as/for storage facilities. These districts are Kono, Kailahun, Moyamba, Kambia, Port Loko, Tonkolili and Pujehun. Those for Koinadugu are under construction.
A total of four store keepers and one finance clerk have been trained in Bonthe District in 2003.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
There are other district allocated stores which are currently being controlled by District Medical Store Keepers. The manager of the programme supervises these District Medical Store Keepers and District Purchasing Stores Officers.
Also, the Ministry provided a vehicle for monitoring and supervision stores activities nationwide. A monthly supervision should be conducted but due to logistics, a periodical one is carried out.
The districts that were having problems with storage and allocation are now carrying out proper store activities. This include direct supply of drugs from the headquarter store to all district stores with their appropriate store documents.
Staff members were able to do this with the assistance of the suppliers who hire vehicles to supply the districts with appropriate documentation. These supplies are received in some cases by the District Medical Officers, witnessed by Receiving Bay Officers, Dispatched Bay Officers and the store keeper.
The drugs that were formerly under the hospital secretaries are now kept in the stores. If it is the district supply, it may be witnessed by the Chairman of the district council and for the hospitals, it could be witnessed by the hospital Board chairperson and a stock verifier.
