Meet Mr. Simaila N. K. Lansana, Director of Internal Audit

My name is Simaila Nyaloi Kuyateh Lansana. I attended Milton Margai Teachers College Freetown from 1977 to 1980. From 1980 to 1985 I was the head of the Mathematics Department at the Methodist Secondary School Kenema.

I then proceeded to Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and obtained a B.SC. Hons (Economics) from 1985 to 1989. From 1989 to 1992, I lectured and was subsequently an examination officer at the Government Technical Institute, Congo cross, Freetown.

 

From 1992 to 1993, I worked at the Internal Audit Section of the National Diamond Mining Company (NDMC) as the internal auditor. From 1993 to 1994, I worked at the Training Division, Auditor General’s Department. As an auditor and training officer, I was the team leader for Revenue and Stores Branch System put in place for the establishment of district medical stores.

 

From 1990 to 1993, I was the Deputy Chief Pharmacist at the Ministry of Health. My responsibilities included acting as a counterpart in the implementation of the Essential Drugs Program. I also participated in project preparation, inventory control and the use of drug information materials.

 

From 1997 to date I am the Director of Internal Audit, Ministry of Health and Sanitation. From 2005 to 2006 I went to the Institute of Public Administration and Management, University of Sierra Leone,

 

As the Director of Internal Audit, my main responsibility includes ensuring that internal controls and policy guidelines and procedures are adhered to through compliance verification of existing operations of those controls on which reliance is to be placed.
