PROGRAMMES : Reproductive Health / FP**
Reproductive Health Services Annual Progressive Report 2007.
The RH/FP Programme focuses on reducing maternal and neonatal mortality with emphasis on supporting district hospitals particularly in Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care. By doing so the Programme contributes to MOHS goal, which is “to provide quality, affordable and accessible health care services to the people of Sierra Leone”. The two week training for Nursing Staff of the Princess Christian Maternity and Ola During Children’s hospitals which aimed at reducing the incidence of maternal and child mortality in the two hospitals has ended with the Keynote Speaker and Specialist Gynaecologist Consultant, Dr. Ibraham David Thorlie appealing to the entire staff to make the two institutions a Baby-friendly entity for mothers and children.

Japanese Government Joins Fight Against Child Mortality
The government of Japan has approved funding in the area of child and maternal health in Sierra Leone through UNICEF for the year 2008. One Million nine hundred and sixty three thousand and fifty nine United States dollars ($1,963,059)has been approved for the project entitled 'Scaling up effective strategies to reduce Child and maternal mortality in Sierra Leone".

Sierra Leone to Launch an Integrated Campaign: Targeting 900,000 children (0-59 months) for measles, malaria, vitamin A and de-worming
The Ministry of Health and Sanitation in collaboration with health sector partners, including the World Health Organisations, UNICEF, Sierra Leone and Canadian Red Cross Societies, The Church of Latter Day Saints, Universal Logistics Company will support a week long Integrated Child Survival Campaign. A training school  has been constructed in Makeni and one healing center in Kono district which conducts safe and clean delivery of children. Workshops are conducted at regular intervals to sensitize people on the need to work together with the orthodox doctors in order for there to be harmony in the profession and compliment  efforts.
